Chinwoo Open House

The Ipoh Chinese Chinwoo Athletic Association hosted an open house on Sunday, February 2, the third day of the Chinese New Year. The event was held at the association’s premises, Wisma Chin Woo in Ipoh.

Guests at the open house, which included the Board of Governors, members, sponsors and well-wishers, were treated to an array of entertainment in the form of folk dances, Chinese drums and wushu presentation, lion and dragon dances performed by the association’s youth wing. It was a good opportunity for the youngsters to showcase the skills that they have acquired during weekly training.

Association President, Dato’ Ooi Foh Sing, in his opening remarks, touched on national unity, and reminded everyone present not to take the country’s peace and stability for granted. “It is the ethos of our association to love ourselves, our family, the Chin Woo family, and of course, our country, Malaysia,” he exclaimed.

Dato’ Ooi thanked sponsors and donors for their support either financial or in kind. He revealed that the association would be sending a team of exponents to participate in an international-level wushu championship to be held in Shanghai in August.

MCA Secretary-General and Tanjung Malim Member of Parliament, Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan was the guest-of-honour.
