Lafarge’s Community Projects

Employees of Lafarge Malaysia Berhad (Lafarge) participated in Sri Maha Mariamman Temple’s annual celebration by contributing their time and effort. Lafarge also took the opportunity to make a small cash donation towards the celebration.

The employees from Lafarge’s Kanthan Plant located in Chemor set up a refreshment counter to offer drinks and snacks to devotees throughout the celebration. In addition, the employees installed a portable water browser to wet the surface of the road as a means to provide some soothing comfort to the devotees who walked bare-footed to perform their vows.

Sekar Kaliannan (pic third from left), Plant Manager, Kanthan Plant, who represented Lafarge, also presented a donation of RM1000 towards the temple’s activities.

“Lafarge Malaysia first set up its cement plant in Kanthan in 1964 and this year marks our 50th year in operation. Our contribution to Sri Maha Mariamman Temple today is one of the many initiatives which we will be carrying out to celebrate our Kanthan Plant’s Golden Anniversary this year,” said Sekar.
