Boys’ Brigade Comes to Perak

The Boys’ Brigade of Malaysia returned to Perak after a 14-year hiatus by hosting the 21st National Fiesta and Convention at Bandar Baru, Kampar recently. The occasion brought together both local and overseas members from neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

The theme of the convention was ‘Dream High’, meaning to encourage members of the brigade to realise their dreams through active participation in community development projects and to move forward.

“Youths should be reminded that the sky’s the limit. They’d dare to set their goals further and persist harder in achieving these dreams. Failures may come but that’ll create a more resilient person in you,” said Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon, the guest of honour during the closing ceremony held at Pei Yuan High School Hall, Kampar. Mah believes that the Boys’ Brigade is doing an excellent job in shaping the lives of its members through its objectives of discipline, obedience, reverence and self-respect.

The five-day event saw many interesting activities which included a foot drill competition, a band display, singing and dancing contests and a tour of Kampar and Ipoh. The tour, specially organised for the brigade’s foreign visitors, was to allow them an opportunity to see the many touristic spots in the vicinity.
