Army Quran Recital Competition 2014

Headquarters 2nd Malaysian Infantry Brigade was once again given the responsibility to organise this year’s Army Quran Recital Competition.

The two-day event, held at the banquet hall of the Perak State Secretariat Building, Ipoh recently was to select an army representative to the Armed Forces Quran Recital Competition to be held in Kuala Lumpur soon. The theme for this year’s army level competition was “Wasatiyyah Tonggak Kesatuan Angkatan” (religion the basis of the forces’ unity).

The competition saw participants from the various army formations, training and logistics commands and the Eastern Sabah Security Command taking part. A total of 18 participants vied for positions in the officer, men and women categories.

Gracing the event on the final night were General Officer Commanding 2nd Malaysian Infantry Division, Maj-Gen Dato’ Mohd Shukri Ahmad, Commander 2nd Malaysian Infantry Brigade, Brig-Gen Mohammad Abd Rahman and commanding officers of battalions and units under the northern formation.

The officer category was won by Capt Hajjah Salha Shajila Alang Hashim from 3rd Malaysian Infantry Division while Sergeant Muhammad Hasan Basri Ahmad from 4th Malaysian Infantry Division and Amal Hayati Mohammad from the Army Training and Doctrine Command emerged victorious in the male and female categories, respectively. The overall champion was the 3rd Malaysian Infantry Division who garnered the most points. Winners took home cash prizes worth RM1500, letters of appreciation and trophies.
