Festival Rebana 2015

On Sunday, June 7 Cahaya Warisan Sri Kinta won a trophy, a replica of a rebana (drum) and RM2000 cash for winning Perak’s Festival Rebana in the Youth category. The event was held at the Department for Culture and Arts (Perak) hall at Jalan Caldwell, Ipoh. The team won third place in the open category where they won another replica of a rebana and RM1000 cash.

The competition was held to promote Perak’s traditional musical instruments to the tourists. The two-day contest saw 12 teams from districts in Perak. They competed against each other to win the respected titles.

Department Director, Jasmi bin Rasi was pleased to see participants as well as the visitors who came to watch the show.

“The first Rebana festival was held in 1986. We wanted to promote Perak’s culture and art scenes to the public, especially to the younger generation,” said Jasmi to the media.

SInar Baru Teluk Intan from Teluk Intan won the open category. They took home a trophy and a RM2000 cash prize.

Deputy Director of the National Department for Culture and Arts, Mesran bin Mohd Yusop graced the occasion and gave away the prizes.
