Muhibbah Challenge Trophy 2015

The annual KPJ Ipoh 3 on 3 Perak Muhibbah Challenge Trophy 2015 will be held on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 at the Master Badminton Club, Ipoh.

Started in 2006, the 10th tournament is jointly organised by KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital and Winner Sports Enterprise. The 9th edition last year attracted a total of 543 participants from 181 teams.

Like previous years, the nine categories contested are: Open Mixed, Novice Mixed, Men’s Novice, Ladies’ Novice, Men’s Junior Veteran, Men’s Senior Veteran, Ladies’ Junior Veteran, Ladies’ Senior Veteran and Veteran Mixed.

The tournament is aimed at providing opportunities for Perakeans, of all races, to show their badminton prowess with muhibbah (goodwill) as the theme.

“The catch is, if you have three different races in your team, I’ll give you a 5-point start,” announced Hj Ahmad Nasirruddin Harun, the organising chairman during the press conference recently, held at the Master Badminton Club.

Present were members of the multi-ethnic committee, which included Hj Asmadi, CEO of KPJ; Sugunaram, chief umpire; Lee Boon Chye, head of medical team; Henry Liew Kheag Thow and Chong Kim Seng, co-owners of Winner Sports Enterprise.

The tournament is open to Perakeans only. Players from other states are allowed to participate on invitation by the Organising Committee. Incidentally, the closing date for submission of entries was on Saturday, August 29.
