Yoga with a Difference

In conjunction with the First World Yoga Day on Sunday, June 21, as announced by United Nations, the International Association for Human Values (IAHV) Southeast Asia is organising the second 10,000 smile yoga event at SRJK Bercham, Ipoh beginning at 6am. The event will be held concurrently in Malacca, Penang and Petaling Jaya.
IAHV is an international humanitarian and educational non-governmental organisation committed to promoting the resurgence of human values in all aspects of life across the globe. It was set up in 1997 by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Geneva.
According to organiser Fiona Lim Fong Ying, the event targets to enrol 1000 people to partake in the gathering. It is a yoga exercise suited for everyone, young and old, irrespective of physical capacity, as it combines simple and fun movements to bring and enhance inner smile.
“The emphasis is on doing yoga not only for our own benefit but to extend our hands to the needy. This year the Nepal earthquake disaster becomes the focus of our attention. This is the driving force behind the charity bazaar, which will be held soon after the smile yoga at the same venue,” said Dr Wong Chong Yuen, the event advisor.
Smile yoga is all about releasing stress and bringing back your smile and your inner joy. Come and indulge yourself in smile yoga, as it will bring your smile into each and every part of your body.
