A Belated Deepavali Party

Royal Ipoh Club held a belated Deepavali party on Saturday, November 7. The joyous occasion was attended by a large number of guests who took all 25 tables on offer. They came prepared for the occasion with the ladies in sarees and the men some in dhotis and some casual.

Before the feast began in earnest, the specially invited entertainers from KL provided a series of Deepavali-themed performances to enliven the occasion. Guest-of-honour and special advisor to the Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ V. Elango and club president, Roland Rama Rao, started the ball rolling by lighting up the stage with fireworks.

“I am delighted to see Malays and Chinese members sharing the festive joy with their Indian counterparts. I thank the Indian members for their contributions in the recent charity dinner. The balance of the money collected was given to the welfare homes. I hope you’d continue to support the club in its future activities,” said Roland in his welcome speech.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of hampers to a few selected members who had contributed to the well-being of the club.

The merry-making continued till the wee hours of the morning. Obviously, some never had this much fun for quite a while.
