This is a sincere call to help the Perak Society for the Promotion of Mental Health in their quest to seek a kind donor for a van. This is urgently required as this society is looking after over 100 female residents who receive rehabilitation treatment in mental disorders. We have 30 staff – consisting of nurses, clerical staff and visiting doctors. These residents are required to be sent to various government hospitals including Hospital Bahagia in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak, for medical check-ups regularly. For this, the society needs a proper and reliable van to transport them for their medical treatment. At the moment, the present van is giving periodical engine trouble and the cost of repair is too stiff for the society to manage. It is therefore our hope and prayer that a kind donor will answer our prayers for a new van.
This society was established in October, 1967. A pilot project for the rehabilitation of mental patients was started under the brainchild of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Azlanii Dr M. Mahadevan who was then a consultant psychiatrist and later became the Director of Hospital Bahagia. Its motto is “Curing by Caring”. The current President is Dato’ Dr M. Majumder, a very dedicated individual who took the helm of this society in 1985 till now. The EXCO consists of a Vice President, Hon. Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and eight EXCO members who are a driving force to be reckoned with.
So, in order to proceed with our sincere dedications and devotion to this society, we are appealing for a van to be donated to this society whereby the donor’s name will be printed onto the van. This Society is fortunate to have a dedicated counsellor, 30 staff, drivers and well-wishers to promote a better standard of mental health socially and educationally necessary to live in the community.
Members of the public are most welcome to visit this society’s centre at: Lot 18200, Batu Lapan, Tambun, 31150 Ulu Kinta, Perak.
