Cycling for a Good Cause

The Perak Recreational Club Ipoh Society (Kelab Rekreasi Sahabat Ipoh Perak) organised the ‘Sentuhan Kasih Kayuhan Amal’ (Charity Cycling) on August 27 at Meru Raya recently to collect funds for Muhammad Adam Haikal, an 11-year-old who is suffering from a severe brain disease. Adam is currently receiving his treatment at the National Cancer Institution at Putrajaya where the bills have piled-up to almost RM50,000 and counting.

According to the president of the club, Dato’ Azizul Kama Aziz, when he received the news about Adam, his team quickly gathered some ideas to raise funds and help the family to pay for Adam’s cost of treatments.

“This charity cycling is not just to collect donations to pay for Adam’s medical bills but also to raise awareness among the public about the disease,” said Azizul.

Adam grew up like a normal kid but started showing symptoms such as feeling nauseated and would faint regularly. The doctor confirmed that he must undergo treatment as soon as possible.

Together with Azizul supporting the event were ADUN for Ulu Kinta, Dato’ Aminuddin Hanafiah.  ADUN for Manjoi, Ziad B Haji Dato’ Zainal Abidin flagged off the cyclists for the 20km ride that began and finished at Bulatan Amanjaya at Meru Raya.

The public who wish to help out Adam and his family can do so by donating via Adam Haikal’s BSN account, 08100-29000-437633.
