Festive Cheer for Anning

Children and old folks of Anning ushered in the Chinese New Year at the home together with Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC) recently with an abundance of red packets, mandarin oranges and a lion dance performance.

Based in Kelana Jaya, this is CGC’s first ever corporate social responsibility initiative in Ipoh. Founded in 1972, the core business of CGC is to assist SMEs, especially those with inadequate or without collateral and track records, to obtain credit facilities from financial institutions by providing guarantee cover.

Besides distributing red packets to the residents, a cheque of RM10,000 was presented by CGC’s chief executive officer, Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak to the advisor of Anning Old Folks’ Home, Ho You Meng. Also present was vice president of Anning Children’s and Old Folks’ Home, Mok Soon Sang.

“This initiative is an ongoing effort in fulfilling our responsibility as a caring corporate citizen to foster closer relationships between CGC’s staff and the community we serve, especially the underprivileged ones,” Zamree stated.

“Anning Old Folks’ Home was established in 2003 while the Anning Children’s Home began in 2009. We don’t collect a single cent from the residents under our care,” Ho explained.

To date, there are 37 kids and 45 elderly citizens residing at Anning. Readers who would like to donate or volunteer, kindly contact 05 311 1223 (Anning Old Folks’ Home) or 05 311 4640 (Anning Children’s Home).
