Ipoh Cultural Showcase

Preserving culture and art has always been one of Perak Department for Culture and Art’s (JKKNP) main goals. With that in mind, the team has launched its ‘Ipoh Cultural Showcase’ (ICS) scheduled to start on March 14. The show will be focussing on educating the public about Malay culture.

“Based on our current weekly show, we have received a lot of positive feedback especially from college and university students. We have received guests coming from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Tapah, Ungku Omar Polytechnic (PUO), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Shah (UPSI), MARA Polytech College (KPTM) Ipoh and many more,” said Jasmi Rasit the current director of JKKNP.

The one-hour showcase consists of several segments including an Interactive Segment where the audience will get a chance to learn Perak’s traditional Malay dance called Dabus and the lesson will be conducted by the experienced dancers of JKKNP. Visitors of ICS will also get the chance to visit the art gallery at JKKNP where there is an exhibition on Perak traditional attire, classic traditional games and many more.

Interested readers who are keen on going to ICS can go to JKKNP every first and third Friday or visit the People’s Park at Jalan Bijih Timah every second and fourth Friday.
