Join Shuddup N’ Dance

One of the biggest dance competitions in the northern region, “Shuddup N’ Dance Season 3” is back with a bang thanks to its overwhelming response last year. It is aimed at providing aspiring youth a platform to express themselves through street dancing and hip-hop.
Featuring two categories, solo and group, the event is open to all with no limitation on age or nationality. For the group category, the minimum number of dancers is two to a maximum of eight. Participants are judged on technicality, creativity, originality, attire and overall performance. The competition is based on an open-dance style.
Shuddup N’ Dance will be travelling to four locations, namely Ipoh Parade (March 19-20), 1 Mont Kiara (May 29), Citta Mall (July 23) and Klang Parade (August 13-14) where the top three groups and top four solos of each mall will battle it out in the grand final at Klang Parade (August 21).
“We noticed that a dance competition like this has attracted not only practitioners of street dancing but parents, teachers and the community whom we initially thought would appreciate this contemporary art form. It’s a sign of changing times. We can’t assume that street dancing appeals only to a niche group anymore,” said Chan Yu Yin, Ipoh Parade’s Centre Manager.
“Dancers train day and night just to have a platform to showcase what they’ve and Shuddup N’ Dance is one of those platforms,” Danny Lee, the returning judge and leader of the Rejuvenate Dance Crew explained during a media conference held on Wednesday, March 2.
Also present was Chan Hon Fee, one of the judges for Ipoh Parade’s selection round. “It’d be a good form of experience for the dancers,” Fee added.
The final round will see the presence of an international judge from Thailand, Bboy GeeOne who has previously judged other competitions in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and more.
Prizes for the Ipoh Parade’s selection round are:
