Filming in Perak

The state government will set up a filming office to provide opportunities for locals to produce films.

Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi, the Executive Councillor for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Multimedia and Communications, said the state government is planning the structure and it will be operational soon.

“We want Perak to be one of the film hubs where producers and industry players can do their filming. We want to encourage local filmmakers to have their productions here because in the past they have done dramas and documentaries here,” she said.

“Although the films were taken in Perak, the state didn’t get the kind of exposure expected,” she added, after the premiere of Kanang Anak Langkau: The Iban Warrior which was held in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017 at Ipoh Parade on Saturday, February 18.

According to Nolee about 80 per cent of the film was shot in the jungles below Gunung Korbu.
