Minibus for PORT

Tanjung Malim District Council (MDTM) presented an Isuzu KIV minibus (Coaster) to PORT (People of Remarkable Talent) in appreciation for its efforts in promoting arts and culture in Perak.

PORT Manager Zamari Muhyi said, it was a significant contribution, as the bus has a high antique value, despite its condition. “The bus was initially on loan for our programme ‘Malaysia Urban Azam Karnival’ held in April last year.

“During the event, a total of 16 Perak-born cartoonists did their creative artworks, doodle paintings, on the exterior of the bus. It was returned to MDTM after the event,” he said.

The vehicle, bearing registration number ABG 3993, was used by the district council for transportation purposes for over 20 years.

“However, MDTM has decided to donate the bus to us instead. It can still be used. Some repairs need to be done to make it roadworthy,” said Zamari to reporters.

According to Council president Mohd Syukri Azaari the bus was supposed to be disposed of, as its maintenance cost was high and was not longer safe for use.

“Upon reflection, we decided to give it to PORT instead. They know what to do with it.

“The bus now belongs to PORT. I hope it’ll be put to good use. This bus will be a tremendous asset to its new owner. It too serves as a precious reminder to MDTM,” said Mohd Syukri.

The minibus was handed over to Zamari by Mohd Syukri and was witnessed by Dato’ Nolee Ashilin, the Executive Councillor for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Multimedia and Communications on March 24.
