Beauty pageants not only emphasise on physical appearances but are powerful tools to empower women.
Mrs Gorgeous World 2018 is out to change past misconceptions.
The pageant, which will be held in Syeun Hotel on September 8, is aimed at highlighting the diverse roles of women in society.
These roles are not limited to mundane stuffs like being mothers, wives, and daughters but on a more dynamic scale as providers, a significant member of the community.
According to organiser Mok Junni, the response was overwhelming although the event is one month away.
“Both categories are fully subscribed although the deadline was on July 31,” she told Ipoh Echo.
Contestants are divided into two categories, Crystal (age 25 to 45) and Diamond (age 46 and above). Each category has 14 contestants. They must be married and have given birth to at least one child.
The evening will be kick-start with its first round, the Cheongsam Round followed by Evening Gown Round and Talent Show.
Besides the Mrs Gorgeous title, there are other subsidiary titles to be won with accompanying prizes. They are:

2. Mrs Best Cat Walk
3. Mrs Sweet Smile
4. Mrs Most Popularity
5. Mrs Elegance
6. Mrs Photogenic
