You Should Be Spending Your Holiday In These 3 Eco Resorts In Ipoh

1. The Haven Resort Hotel, Ipoh

Only In The Haven Resort Hotel, Ipoh
Waking up to the serene surroundings of a 280 million-year old jungle is not something that you can experience just anywhere. It’s a unique feeling that you want to preserve in your memory for a long time – knowing that you have touched nature at its most ancient and sacred. You breath in air that is so fresh from the pristine area that even your lungs feel like it has been thoroughly cleansed and detoxed. This sanctuary of respite, The Haven, is set at the edge of a virgin forest amidst the fauna and flora of a prehistoric site from the Paleozoic period. It is home to hundreds of natural, beautiful and unique plants and wildlife including the world’s fastest eagle, the Peregrine Falcon and the world’s smallest eagle, the black-thighed Falconet.

Staying here is akin to being in the middle of a jungle yet having access to all the conveniences of a modern condominium. From the balcony of my suite, I can survey the entire picturesque development including a natural lake, a 280-million year old limestone outcrop rising up to 14 storeys high, and a swimming pool with a patented design of a seahorse complete with Jacuzzi seats. The pool includes a deck, perfect for yoga or Pilates, a spa pool, heated pool and lap pool, as well as cultured and curated raised garden walkways that are disabled-friendly.

List of award (National, Regional, International)
The Haven Resort Hotel won the Top 1% Travellers’ Choice Award for 4 years consecutively (2016 – 2019) by Tripadvisor – the highest honour and recognition awarded by Tripadvisor based on the overall reviews and comments by its global travel community.

Facilities
Other facilities of the 5-star resort include a gymnasium with views of the swimming pool and limestone outcrop, a 600-metre natural jogging track around the lake, a spa, tennis and squash courts, and charging points for electric cars. A brisk walk along the track is literally a breath of fresh air as I inhaled deeply the oxygen from the diverse plants along the pathway.

Eco- elements
The award-winning resort also exceeds expectations when it comes to sustainable practices. It uses solar panels on the roofs of its car parks with the excess energy sold to Tenaga to reduce overall electricity rate and wind turbines to generate electricity which is used for night time lighting around the lake and jogging track. The resort harvests rainwater to ensure that water in the natural lake remains at a near-constant level. The rainwater is also used in common areas of the resort hotel in effort to conserve water. Special Decompose Pits (wet and dry) are created to decompose waste matter which is then used as natural fertiliser for the resort’s beautiful gardens.

All suites are designed to allow fresh air access by opening the main and balcony doors. There are no mosquitoes despite the abundance of greenery because of lemongrass clusters. Lemongrass is well known as a natural mosquito repellent. Monkeys are kept at bay by planting fruit trees outside the perimeter fence. They are too preoccupied with the fruits outside to bother climbing into the compound of the resort. There is a lot of fish in the natural lake; however no fishing or swimming is allowed in order to allow the ecosystem to thrive naturally including even allowing otters to come in to feast on the fishes during certain seasons. And, best of all, not a single tree was cut down nor any hill blasted during construction of The Haven.

No MSG/Artificial Ingredient/Chemicals/Additives, Free Range
The onsite restaurant has also clinched the World Luxury Hotel Restaurant Award in 2016 for serving only fresh and wholesome food with no artificial ingredients. The chefs go to the market in the wee hours of the morning every day to buy food supplies as they believe in serving freshest ingredients. No overnight food is served. served. The kampong eggs, served daily during breakfast, are of the highest quality. No MSG (Monosodium glutamate) or other artificial flavourings are used by the team of experienced local chefs in the preparation of the dishes. The same goes for the chickens served – they are sourced freshly from the farms everyday. The restaurant serves local Malaysian dishes, classic western and middle-eastern dishes and twists on Asian dishes. To read more on what the restaurant offers, click on…

Knock, Knock, Knocking On Haven’s Door
The resort consists of 512 condominiums spread over three, 26-storey towers that sit comfortably within their natural environment. The resort was designed as part hotel, part condominium investment project, with both sides of the endeavour complimenting the other. These residences are available for guests to use for long weekends, weeks at a time or even longer, and can also be bought for permanent use.
