Mobile Games Getting Popular

On Saturday, December 7, an e-sport tournament was organised by Rockstar Gaming Esport and held at Aeon Big Falim, Menglembu.

The championship lasted two days with two different games, PUBG Mobile (PUBG) and Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB).

With a prize pool of RM10,000, a total of 130 teams participated consisting of 66 teams of PUBG players and 64 teams of MLBB players. Each team paid RM50 as participation fee.

Some contestants were from outside of Ipoh namely Penang, Johor and Taiping.

The PUBG teams were divided into four groups in the qualifying rounds. The best four competed in the final round to determine the ultimate winner. The MLBB teams were divided into two groups namely, upper bracket (qualifying team) and lower bracket (knockout round). The overall champion came from the upper bracket.

The average duration of one round in PUBG was 40 minutes whereas in MLBB was 30 minutes.

The tournament lasted 10 hours from 10am to 8pm.


Team Red Esport MLBB

Team Axis Mpx was crowned the winner of PUBG while Team Red Esport topped the MLBB. Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, both teams took home RM2000 in cash and RM1000 in cash vouchers, respectively.
