MBI Lucky Draw

The number of assessment ratepayers who paid their annual dues in full for Year 2017 had increased by 15 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Mayor Dato’ Zamri Man said out of the total 290,000 bills issued, 75,600 paid their bills in full by end of February this year.

“Last year the number was 60,000. This year there’s an increase of 15,000 people,” the mayor told reporters after picking the lucky winners at the foyer of the council building on Monday, March 20.

Zamri disclosed that about 35,000 people settled their assessment bills in full as early as the first week of January.

“I hope this attitude will remain and increase each passing year. This is a positive sign indeed,” said Zamri.

The mayor along with city councillors, village heads and media practitioners picked 30 coupons with names of the lucky winners. The lucky 30 stand a chance to win the grand prize, a brand new Proton Saga and 500 other attractive prizes worth RM200,000.

“We’ll have another round of draws in early April. This is to determine the winners of the 30 grand prizes. We want it to be as transparent as possible,” he added.

The objective of the annual lucky draw, which has been around for over 10 years, is to encourage property owners to pay their assessment bills in full and on time.

“About 35,000 fridge magnets were given to early birds. The stock was exhausted as early as January. I wish to thank those who made an effort to pay early,” he said.

Besides the Proton Saga, the other 30 grand prizes are two Modenas MR1 motorcycles, two Demak EX90 motorcycles, six LED televisions, five bicycles, a sofa set, a dining table set, a washing machine, two microwave ovens and 10 electrical appliances.
