Upgraded Pavement Along Jalan S.P. Seenivasagam
The pavement along Jalan S.P. Seenivasagam beside Ipoh Padang and opposite St Michael Institution consisted of rectangular concrete slabs placed across the drain. The slabs were not level; there were gaps in between and posed not only a tripping hazard but was downright dangerous.
However, Ipoh City Council recently replaced the slabs with standard inter-locking bricks and the slopes leading to the padang from the road are gradual. These make the pavement user-friendly to senior citizens, women and children who do not have to climb onto the elevated pavement. The city council should adopt this style for all pavements around the city.
