The LEO Club of SMK Anderson (LCOA) Ipoh recently held a soft launch celebration to commemorate its 40 years as a community service club in the city.
The walls of Anderson School reverberated as representatives of various Leo clubs from Penang, Selangor and the Philippines introduced themselves by shouting the LEO tagline “LEO Club Rock Rock Rock”.
LCOA was formed on September 2, 1970, making it the oldest LEO Club in District 308 of Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia.
In conjunction with the theme of the celebration “40 Years in Service”, the club will be organizing 40 district level projects till September 2.
As part of their celebrations the club launched their 40th Anniversary Logo and planted the first of 40 trees in the school compound as a long term contribution towards “Greening Mother Earth”.
The club’s District Chairperson Ms Eliza Chia in her speech advised the members to ‘think out-of the box’ when selecting their projects and to do it with sincerity.
Special guests at the launch were celebrities Baki Zainal (of Mr Siao’s Mandarin class fame) and singer Azizi Zakaria (the National Kidney Foundation Teen Ambassador).
