In association with Earth Day, the Kechara House Buddhist Association, Ipoh Study Group, kicked started their Recycling Collection recently. Members’ friends and family of Kechara House Ipoh Study Group collected almost anything that could be recycled including old orange juice cartons, shampoo bottles, milk powder tins, cans and even old television sets and clothing. Everyone brought the items to the collection point on Jalan Che Tak, off Jalan Yang Kalsom, between 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Inspired by H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche, the Ipoh Study Group decided to start a recycling activity every 4th Sunday of each month. The Kechara Ipoh Study Group beavered away at sorting the items out into different categories.
Funds raised from this will go towards Kechara and its charitable activities such as Kechara Soup Kitchen which feeds and finds jobs for the homeless, the setting up of an Animal Sanctuary and the development of Kechara World Peace Centre. The next collection will be held on May 23, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Jalan Che Tak. Items that can be recycled are metal, aluminium, bottles, glass, plastic, newspaper, cardboard, paper, electrical equipment and clothing.
