The Lioness Club of Ipoh organised a Joint Health project with Perak Family Health Association (PFHA) and Yayasan Orang Asli Perak (YOAP) with Lioness Datin Tavamani Thambipillay as the organising chairperson. It was held recently at Pusat Kecemerlangan Pendidikan Orang Asli, Kg Kerawat, Simpang Pulai.
The focus of this project was to reach out to the disadvantaged community – the Orang Asli. Services provided included: Pap smear, breast examination, blood pressure and random blood sugar. A total of 52 residents went through the tests.
Inteyo Club members helped with the registration. They organised games for the children while the parents went for the tests. The children received sweets, buns and mineral water. Extra boxes of mineral water were left to the kindergarten children. Teaching aids and books were delivered to the children.
Past Presidents, Lioness Juliet Putra and Lioness Hjh. Edith Fatimah Naburi and members Lioness Annie Arul and Lioness Sheila Hari provided the refreshment for the volunteers.
Lioness Club Bannerettes were presented to the participating organisations. Pengarah YOAP Dato’ Suki Mee presented the book ‘Perayaan Jis Pai dan Adat Perkawinan’ authored by him to all the visiting members.
