With reference to the letter “Polo Ground” published in issue 125. This is the reply from the Mayor’s office:

The Council issued two compounds in August 2011 for the offence of failing to renew vendor licences. The Council is also awaiting approval from the Perak State Government to allow the former Restaurant D’Pollo site to be used for relocating the vendors.

Secretary of the City Council
On behalf of the Mayor of Ipoh

  1. Taman Rekreasi Sultan Abdul Aziz or better known as ” Polo Ground”, which was once a very nice place for joggers and lovers which is full of greens and nature sights. Now many have stopped going to the Polo Ground.

It was once a place to exercise, now its a food heaven. MBI why are you NOT doing anything about it, you want us to grow fat and pay a heavy bill to enrich the doctors?

I support the call from Ms.Sabrina Noor to PUT A STOP TO THE DESTRUCTION OF POLO GROUND IMMEDIATELY! U have my vote Sabrina.

  2. “The Council issued two compounds in August 2011 for the offence of failing to renew vendor licences”??? Licences should never have been issued to hawkers at Polo Ground in the first place! What is the Council thinking???

The rape and total devastation of the beauty, tranquility and serenity of our beloved park lie in the hands of the Council. MBI, you must now stand trial for your irresponsible decisions and PUT A STOP TO THE DESTRUCTION OF POLO GROUND IMMEDIATELY!!

    Sabrina Noor
