Deepavali Cheer for Frontliners and Others

The Family Wellness Club (FWC), in collaboration with the Lions Club of Ipoh Host and the Lioness Club of Ipoh, together with some friends and well-wishers, brought some Deepavali Cheer to the frontliners and other staff at Klinik Kesihatan Greentown in Ipoh and at Makmal Kesihatan Awam Ipoh (MKAI) today, November 13.

Their first team delivered about 240 packed lunches to Klinik Kesihatan Greentown. The food was arranged on tables and bags were provided for the staff to pick up their lunch packets by themselves, so all was contactless. Everyone queued up patiently, and some even packed extra bags of goodies for their colleagues who were working.

Dr. Asmah bin Zainal Abidin, the officer-in-charge for Kinta District, as well as Dr. Paranthaman, the Head of Klinik Kesihatan Greentown, were there early to help the team. The supervisor, Encik Akmal, requested some of the staff to pack some lunch bags for the frontliners who were manning the ‘drive-through’ COVID-19 swabs in tents beside the main building. When they could take time off, the frontliners first had a shower before having lunch near the tents.

All the staff who came to collect their lunch packets had beaming smiles and joyfully wished everyone a Happy Deepavali.

Dr. Paranthaman and Encik Akmal stayed till the end and personally extended their thanks to all the sponsors for appreciating the service of their staff and bringing them some cheer during these challenging times.

Over at MKAI in Jelapang, FWC’s second team delivered about 120 packed lunches and also laid out all the food for the staff, including the frontliners working in the laboratories upstairs doing COVID-19 screening tests.

Dr. Latifah binti Dahalan, the Director at MKAI and Dr.Theven the officer-in-charge there, both met the team and thanked everyone for their kind thoughts and the wonderful gesture of appreciation.

FWC thanks all their partners, members and volunteers who contributed and supported this Deepavali Cheer project. They have brought some light during this festival of lights, to the lives of those who have been working to keep everyone safe.
