A photographic exhibition showcasing Malay nationalist Mustapha Hussein, veranda living and Taiping’s bungalows was held at First Galleria, Taiping on Friday, November 11. The launching ceremony was officiated by Taiping Municipal Council President, Shahrom bin Dato’ Malik and witnessed by nearly a hundred invited guests, which included members of Mustapha Hussein’s family.
Mustapha’s autobiography, “Malay Nationalism Before UMNO – The Memoirs of Mustapha Hussein” was on sale. The book, written by Mustapha’s daughter Insun Sony Mustapha, was based on unpublished records written by the late UMNO stalwart who died a broken man in 1987.
Insun, an accomplished writer in her own right, won the prestigious Hadiah Sastera Perdana Malaysia 1998/1999 award for her literary effort.
