City Ballet Performing Arts Academy presented a production recently entitled, “We Love, We Care” at Dewan Leong Wan Chin, Perak Girls’ School in Ipoh. A total of 160 performers, ranging in age from 6 to 30 years old, were involved.
The two-hour production consisted of two parts. The first part was a ballet performance titled “Circle of Love”. It was a tale about friendship and love overcoming difficulties and tragedy. Jeremie Gan Wen-Jian, winner of the 14th Solo Classical Ballet Competition 2011, from Kuala Lumpur, performed with students of City Ballet Performing Arts Academy, Ipoh.
The second part was a musical entitled “Hairspray” a story made famous by Hollywood star, John Travolta. It was about an overweight, yet talented, teenager, Tracy Turnblad, who dreamt of being on her favourite TV show.
This charity production was to raise funds to acquire a medical vehicle for Klinik Lutheran, a charitable organisation that provides free healthcare services to the underprivileged in rural areas where medical attention is not easily obtainable. This vehicle will not only be used to transport medical equipment and supplies to rural communities but to serve as an examination room, especially for teenagers and women.
Klinik Lutheran is still short of its target of RM200,000 needed for the vehicle. Readers who wish to contribute can do so by contacting Phan, Chairman of Lutheran Church in Malaysia and Singapore, at 012-5757504.
