The 17th edition of the Ipoh International Run (IIR 2012) will be held on Sunday, July 1, in conjunction with Ipoh City Day and Visit Perak Year 2012. There are twelve categories in all based on age groups and gender. A new category, called “Fun Run”, will make its debut this year.
Entry fee ranges from RM5 to RM20 (USD1.50 to USD8 for foreign participants). Cash prizes worth RM96,750 will be given away, in addition to 1,600 medals. The organisers expect over 13,000 participants from Malaysia and neighbouring countries. Last year some 14,000 runners, from as far as the United States of America and Kenya, took part.
The top three schools with the highest number of participants will receive RM1,000, RM750 and RM500, respectively.
Chief Minister Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir will flag off the first group of runners at 6.45 a.m. at Stadium Indera Mulia, Ipoh.
Registration is open from April 1 to June 25. Entry forms are available at IIR Secretariat at Wisma Bougainvillea, Jalan Foo Choo Choon. Registration can be done online at www.mbi.gov.my or www.ipohrun.com.
