The Music and Drama Society of SMK Methodist (ACS) Ipoh staged the play “Aladdin” recently. The cast, led by Haniff Harusani,16, who played the lead role of Aladdin and Sevita Sharma,19, as Princess Jasmine, enthralled audiences with their captivating light effects and Arabian costumes. Teacher advisor cum director, Susila Devi, stated that the team had taken five months to perfect their performance. The limelight, however, was stolen by Robin Lee who took the role of the genie with a burst of wacky character and a great sense of humour. The compact but exciting play contained a few musical performances, including the Disney favourite “A Whole New World” and some self-scripted songs. The play, which went on for three days, attracted many from outside Perak, testimony to ACS’s proud theatrical tradition that has withstood the test of time.
