Sri Murugan Centre (SMC) launched its Kalvi Viratham 2012 (Education Pledge 2012) by awarding medals and souvenirs to high achievers in the PMR, SPM and STPM examinations during a ceremony held at the Kinta Indian Association.
Santha Subramaniam, wife of a lorry driver was honoured as Mother of the Year. The couple have five children; three sons have graduated and are working and a daughter is studying in USA under a PSD (Public Services Department) sponsorship. Their youngest daughter scored five As in STPM and is one of the 12 best students in the country.
A. Prakash Rao, Co-Director, Sri Murugan Centre Malaysia gave a motivational talk and said that education begins at home and parents must be supportive of their children and guide them.
More than a thousand students took the pledge to start preparing for the forthcoming examinations from now on and make their parents proud.
