Three hundred pupils from Tenby Schools Ipoh were involved in two productions entitled, A Journey Through An Enchanted Forest and The Mouse and The Gruffalo. The performances were held at Dewan Jubli Perak, Politeknik Ungku Omar, Ipoh recently.
The children, ranging from 3 to 7 years old, not only showcased their talents but the values and skills learnt at school, especially the physical, social, health and emotional developments. They practised for two months before the big day.
The first production, A Journey Through An Enchanted Forest, written by the principal, Mrs Puvanes Mahendran, was about a school trip to the forest. The pupils lost their way because they did not heed the advice of their teachers to move as a group and not to stray away. They faced lots of challenges in finding their way out, until they met with a flock of birds. The moral of the story is to always listen to instructions.
The second production, The Mouse and the Gruffalo, was an interpretation of Julia Donaldson’s The Gruffalo. It is a story about a mouse that was in danger of being eaten by larger animals in the forest. The mouse had to outwit them in order to survive. The intended message is that size is not a factor in life.
Besides the children, credit also goes to the teachers for their commitment in making the productions worthy.
