Living Hope Malaysia, Dr Peggy Chan Wong, one egg one child programmeLiving Hope Malaysia, a non-governmental organisation founded by Ipoh-born philanthropist, Dr Peggy Chan Wong, celebrated its 5th anniversary by hosting a feeding programme for 40 young students recently. The event was part of its on-going “One Egg One Child” feeding programme and was held at SJK (C) Hing Hwa, Tambun.

The occasion was made memorable with the presentation of cheques worth RM3,000 each to the principals of SJK (C) Hing Hwa and SJK (C) Tat Choi, Tg Rambutan by Dr Peggy. Living Hope’s “One Egg One Child” programme provides one meal per school day to children of very poor families. All the 40 chosen students would be given free lunch till the end of the year.

In her address, Dr Peggy stressed the benefits of a good education and how it would help students avoid the poverty trap. She thanked the principals of both schools for identifying the needy children. The children received a hamper each consisting of biscuits and were treated to a sumptuous spread before returning home.
