Kinta Roadrunners Ipoh (KRI) recently organised the first ever Master Swim Event in Ipoh.
The event was held at the Kinta Swimming Club and was a time-trial competition where each competitor had to swim 1km. The Kinta Swimming Club being a 50-metre pool, each competitor had to swim 20 lengths.
The competition was categorised into 11 age groups starting from 35 years till 60 and above. The response was very positive with 61 participants signing up for the event.
The Men’s overall champion went to Mr Wong Kim Keong (15:23.01) while the Women’s overall champion was won by Ms Chan Siew Chooi (23:07).
The oldest participant was Mr Liang Jian Guang, 73, who completed the swim in 26 minutes and 5 seconds.
KRI President Mr Chong Him Shoong said the reason for the Club to organise this new event was to promote swimming in Perak and to motivate adult swimmers to improve their swimming skills and fitness.
