Eat, sing and play, that was the order of the evening during the recent Easter potluck dinner organised by the Portuguese Eurasian Association of Perak at the OMPH cafeteria. About 60 members and guests had a fun-filled evening feasting on a sumptuous spread of local and Eurasian dishes, especially the signature debal curry, seku/ladarr curry, pangsusis and other dishes prepared by members.
Young and old alike took to the floor with oldies belted out by ‘The Rozells’ from Penang. Even the parish priests, who were present that night, were in the thick of the action. Some fun games were introduced to liven up the evening.
Association President, Colin D’Oliveiro, whose birthday fell on the same day, was pleasantly surprised when a cake with candles was wheeled in midway through the function. Oliveiro, touched by the gesture, invited all members, whose birthday falls in April, to join in the cake cutting.
James Rozells took the opportunity to promote the Eurasian Fiesta 2013 which is to be held on Saturday, June 16 in conjunction with Penang’s UNESCO Heritage Day, a yearly month-long celebration. All are invited to attend this fiesta where Eurasian cuisines, music, art and dance will be highlighted.
The evening went on with members having a gala time before calling it a night.
