Shrieks of laughter could be heard from the driveway, as one approached Tadika Kinderjoy’s multi-purpose hall. The kindergarten was holding its annual sports day themed, “It’s a Beautiful Day” recently.
Children, as young as 3 to 6 years old, were assembled in their uniforms awaiting the arrival of Encik Azam Hj Alias, a unit chief with the Perak Education Department. When Azam finally arrived the kids gave him a rousing welcome with the rendition of the National Anthem and a dance performance.
Several events, specifically designed for each age group, were held. Even the parents were not forgotten. They got into the act in a special event, “Dress the King” where mothers dressed up the fathers to look like kings using the items supplied.
Azam, in his opening remarks, said that the government wishes to not only concentrate on the academic performance of students but to instil in them the importance of participating in at least one sporting activity in line with the ‘1 Student 1 Sport’ policy. This will encourage the production of intellectually and physically balanced students under the National Education Philosophy.
