The second batch of medical students from UniKL Royal College of Medicine Perak, Ipoh received their temporary certificates from Prof Dr Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, the college CEO during a ceremony held at the college recently. The temporary certificates will enable the newly-minted medical doctors to do their internship at public hospitals under the Ministry of Health.
Prof Dr Mazliham congratulated the 101 medical graduates for their achievements in their final examination. Malaysia, he said, has currently 36,607 medical doctors and 5000 new doctors are joining the workforce annually, a product of the country’s 40 medical schools. He urged all UniKL medical graduates to work hard and make their presence felt in the global market. In doing, so it will enhance the image of UniKL RCMP.
The Dean’s Award 2013 was won by Nor Asilah Abdul Rahman. She delivered her acceptance speech detailing her experience throughout the five years she spent at the college. She explained how she got enamoured with the white doctor’s coat and the stethoscope.
The reading of the Hippocratic Oath was led by Qhairyl Lylman bin Ahmad Shanizza. The oath is taken by all new physicians to ensure that they practise medicine honestly. Qhairyl won the Best Final Year Student Award. Primary Care Medicine Award was won by Lau Peng Hong while the Best Psychiatry Student Award went to Harivinthan a/l Manavan.
