The annual Perak Public Works Department’s outstanding service awards ceremony saw 112 recipients for their exemplary work performance for 2012. Another 71 received Certificates of Appreciation.
The glitzy event was held at the State Secretariat’s banquet hall recently. It was graced by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, newly-appointed Executive Councillor for Public Utilities, Infrastructure, Energy and Water, Dato’ Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin, State Secretary Dato’ Puhat Mat Nayan and PWD state director Dato’ Ir. Dr Safry Kamal Ahmad.
In conjunction with the event, Zambry also launched the department’s Pavement Management System or Perak PMS. Perak is the first state in Malaysia to implement this system, another inspiring achievement by the department.
Perak PMS is the process of planning the maintenance and repair works of roadways throughout the state. The process involves a few steps, including inspection, assessment, analysis and work planning.
Zambry, in his speech, congratulated PWD Perak for the awards it received at the PWD national level recently. He reminded staff of the department to complete projects according to schedule, to provide quality services and to be creative. Superiors, he said, must allow their subordinates room to think out of the box.
