Members of the Anglo Chinese School Alumni, Ipoh held their annual dinner to commemorate their Alumni’s 118th anniversary.
The event, aptly named “Friends Forever Dinner”, saw a gathering of over 600 former students, a portion of who were from Singapore.
Alumni President, Dato’ Lean Mean Seong, in his address encouraged those present to become members of the association. The alumni’s goal is a membership of a thousand. By the end of the dinner the registered number stood at 525. “Hopefully, we’ll achieve this magic figure of 1000 by 2015 when we meet for our 120th anniversary dinner,” said Lean.
It was a busy night for those present, as they started the dinner by singing the ACS song. Once dinner was served many were seen moving from table to table taking photographs and exchanging stories.
Eddy Tham and Tong Kam Fei, currently working in Singapore, recalled fond memories as they walked through the hallways of their alma mater earlier in the day.
With a banner reading, “Back2school 2013”, principal Mrs Lee Hock Hin beckoned the former students to walk through the school’s corridors. For Tham and Tong, who had not been to the school for over two decades, the experience was exhilarating. “It’s like going back to the past,” they exclaimed.
