The YMCA of Ipoh Toastmasters recently organised a public speaking awareness campaign at SMK Anderson Ipoh for their lower-six students. The Toastmasters Can Help – Awareness Campaign was aimed at cultivating the interest of public speaking which would be a useful skill for them in the future.
The programme kick started with an opening speech by the President of the YMCA of Ipoh Toastmasters, Pak Peter, explaining the purpose and objectives of the campaign. Various speeches were given notably youth member, Angaindrankumar Gnanasagaran who has been in the club for a year with his speech on “How TM has help me become who I am today”. This was followed by Nor Aida Ahmad with her presentation on verbal crutches such as “Ah, Um and You know”.
Overall, the campaign received rousing support from an estimated 80 students who attended the talk. This programme marked the effort of the YMCA of Ipoh Toastmasters club to influence young minds to embrace public speaking and understand its importance to one’s future.
