Rosli Mansor from Ipoh Echo receives Cultural Media Award

IPOH: Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali, a journalist from Ipoh Echo, has been selected as a recipient of the Cultural Media Award at the Majlis Anugerah Penggiat Seni dan Budaya Negeri Perak 2023.

Rosli Mansor is among the 22 awardees recognized for their contributions to the arts from various categories during the award ceremony organised by the Perak State Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN). The event took place at Hotel Casuarina@Meru in Ipoh today.

He also holds the position of Chief Editor at Ipoh Echo Sdn. Bhd. and the Peraktastic portal. He was awarded a certificate, trophy, and a cash prize of RM1,000, presented by Canning State Assemblywoman Jenny Choy Tsi Jen, who attended on behalf of the Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) of Perak.

Rosli Mansor expressed his surprise and gratitude at being chosen as the recipient of this award, considering it a significant recognition from JKKN Perak.

“I would like to thank the Director of JKKN Perak and the jury who selected me for this award.

“I write about JKKN Perak not only as part of my journalistic duties but also because of my passion for the arts. I aim to strengthen the arts in Perak through my writing, and this is my contribution to the arts industry and community in the state.

“This award holds great significance for me, it is a recognition of my career path and I am truly thankful,” he said.

Rosli Mansor began his career as a journalist in 2007 and has previously worked as a journalist for Sinar Harian and contributed as a freelance journalist for Berita Harian and Harian Metro.

Among the other awardees, Datin Shahnoor Zahurin Mohd Haslan Myudin received the Theater Arts and Culture Award, while Masrazman Md Mahayuddin received the Theater Arts and Culture (Supporting) Award.

Additionally, Rashidi Abdul Kharis was honoured with the Arts and Culture Figure Award, and Yusop Othman received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Earlier, Raja Puan Besar, Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah, graced the occasion with her presence during the “Bicara Seni Budaya Di Raja” session as part of the Perak State Cultural Festival 2023.

She also presented several awards to the artists during the awards ceremony.

Jenny Choy, in her speech, mentioned that this inaugural programme in Perak aims to recognize and strengthen the culture and arts sector by acknowledging excellence in development, cultural management, human capital, and creativity.

“This effort aligns with the Perak state government’s commitment to appreciating artists in the state, with a focus on nurturing skilled talent, especially in the fields of arts and culture. Congratulations to all the awardees, and may this recognition serve as a catalyst for further excellence in our state’s art, culture, and heritage,” she stated.
