The “1Malaysia Wedding Fair” organised by Heritage Hotel Ipoh was a roaring success judging from the crowd and the number of participating boutiques present. The fair, held over a weekend on March 13 and 14, attracted many visitors, especially those with a keen eye on wedding gowns and dresses. It was officiated by Datin Faridah Din, wife of the Perak State Secretary and president of Puspanita Perak. She thanked the hotel management for organising the event, as it provided an ideal platform for budding designers to showcase their talents and boutiques in Ipoh to promote their products. She hoped Heritage Hotel would make this an annual affair. Lesser known boutiques benefitted from the fair as it gave them an opportunity to jostle for space in the competitive fashion market. Students from the Vocational Training Institute Seri Iskandar, Perak were the major beneficiaries. Norlia Kamaruddin, 23, who is pursuing a certificate course in dressmaking, was elated. “I’ve picked many new ideas and concepts which will help enrich my experience,” she mused. Another student, Nornatasya Tajuddin, 19, was similarly thrilled, “I am mesmerised by the variety of colours of the dresses and gowns. It gives me an idea how to mix and match colours according to my whims,” she remarked. The fair had certainly made an impact on the visitors.
