Target of 53,000 Affordable Housing Units in Perak

The construction of affordable housing targeted at 53,000 houses throughout the state by 2023 is likely to be extended to 2025.

The Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis had delayed the construction process which was supposed to be completed on the set time.

“Based on the target number, some 15 percent of affordable houses throughout the state have been completed and occupied since 2018.

Based on the application record for Housing Development License and Advertisement and Sales Permit (APDL) issued by the National Housing Department (JPN), Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), a total of 10,840 affordable housing units will be developed in all districts in Perak.

“Of the total, 3,918 units of houses are in Kinta District while 2,310 units are in Manjung District and 1,381 units are in Batang Padang District,” she said after the Desa Chemor Megah Housing Key Handover Ceremony today (October 2).

The presentation of the keys involved 168 units of Phase 1 houses in Desa Chemor Megah, of which 152 units consisted of single-storey terrace houses while the other 16 units were double-storey terrace houses.

Also present was the Managing Director of developer Liew Yin Yin Group Berhad, Datuk Seri Don Liew Mun Hon.

At present, the Perak Housing and Property Board (LPHP) has screened 2,305 applications from the B40 and M40 groups for interview sessions for Rumah Perakku I and Rumah Perakku Il in Felcra Nasaruddin, near Perak Tengah.

According to Nolee Ashilin, the interview will be conducted via a phone call starting October 4 which involves the offer of 234 units of Perakku l houses and Perakku Il houses developed by LPHP together with the Perak State Secretary Inc (SSI).

“For the more than 5,000 applicants for Rumah Perakku I and Rumah Perakku II in Kinta, the development project is expected to begin at the end of this month.

“Since LPHP introduced the Rumah Perakku online application system starting October 2019, LPHP has received a very encouraging response from Perakians.

“This is because the initiative has provided convenience for applicants to fill and submit forms online without having to physically go to the LPHP office.

“This initiative is very helpful in facilitating the affairs of applicants, especially those outside the Ipoh City area,” she said.
