Ayam Brand Charity Event

A fun-filled charity event was held on Wednesday, May 4 at 42 Foodies Italian Restaurant, Fair Park. It was organised by Ayam Brand for children from Agape Family, Rumah Anak Yatim Nur Kasih Ipoh, Rumah Anak Yatim Yayasan Amanah An-Nur Maisarah, and The Salvation Army Children’s Home.

The event benefited 90 children from the four homes. Each home was given two months supply of Ayam Brand products.

The children were introduced to Bento, a single-portion home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine that contains rice, fish, meat, pickled or cooked vegetable and fruits. It is packed in a box-shaped container and is well balanced nutritionally.

The children learnt to prepare four Ayam Brand dishes during an interactive session developed for people of different ages and abilities. They were Mixed Fruit Salad, Baked Bean, Heart Shaped Sardine Sandwich and Tuna Onigiri under the guidance of celebrity Chef Loke from T-Garden Cooking School.

According to Ayam Brand representative, Nicholas Nyeow, introducing Bento boxes can help children become more independent in making better dietary choices while exposing them to the culinary traditions of Japan.

“Bento box is useful for kids and adults as they can pack food for school or for work. It’s healthy, affordable and a convenient alternative to buying lunch or dinner. You can control portion sizes, which is useful in fighting obesity,” said Nyeow.
