Programme for Cartoonists

Over 700 people visited  Pekan Kartun (Cartoon Village) at People of Remarkable Talent (PORT) recently. According to Zarul Syed Hisham, the centre’s assistant manager, the number of visitors met the target set by PORT. Organised for the first time in Perak, “Program Pekan Kartun Ipoh 2014”, was a school holiday programme aimed at instilling a new interest in cartoon drawing among youths.
Pekan Kartun, a collaboration by PORT and Persatuan Penggiat Komik Malaysia (Pekomik), will be held once a month at the centre. Activities, among others, will include cartoon drawing workshops, caricature and portrait painting, comic and animation workshops, as well as the sale of comic books and related products. Animation videos will also be shown and chat sessions with professional cartoonists are also in the offing,” said Zarul.
