Pride of Workmanship Award

Rotary Club of Greentown presented 18 individual awards and a commemorative plaque for Pride of Workmanship Award in recognition of vocational excellence to the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station along Jalan Kompleks Sukan on Monday, September 2.

The ceremony which was held in the fire station saw the attendance of the new station chief, Deputy Fire Superintendent (TPGB) Mohd Azman bin Hussin @ Hasan, Rotarians and their families. The awards were presented by Dato’ Bindi Rajasegaran, Rotary District Governor Nominee and Jiva Kandasamy, President of Greentown Rotary.

After the awards, a fire-fighting demonstration was conducted in which a blazing kitchen pan fire was snuffed out using a wet cloth and both adults and older children got to experience using the technique. Most popular was directing the firehose, which young and old enjoyed.

After explaining the purpose and history of Rotary International and its local clubs, including identifying some of its prominent past and present members from the Malay community, Dato’ Bindi and Jiva presented individual certificates of award to 18 personnel. They also unveiled a plaque in the main office, a source of pride and appreciation.

Dato’ Bindi stated, “Today we are here to recognise and honour individual members of the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station (Bomba) who have shown the highest ethical standards, exemplary service in their occupation including immense contribution to the problems and needs of society.”

The Rotary International Vocational Excellence “Pride of Workmanship Award” is recognised worldwide and honours an individual who has excelled in his or her profession either through a single event or a career-long contribution of sustained, worthy performance.

“Today we are proud to recognise individual members of this profession as providers of a golden service that requires a high level of courage in your line of duty and who are loyal to your King and Country. You strive to protect property and save lives,” she added.

The 18 award recipients were: TPGB Azman bin Hussin @ Hasan, PBT Zulkifli bin Mohamad, PBK II Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah, PBK II Fakhrurazi bin Johari, PBK II Khairuddin bin Hussin, PBK II Syed Azrul Hizam, PB Mohamad Aizat bin Mohamad Sharil, PB Mohamad Fikri bin Mohd Fadzil, PB Mohamad Faiz bin Abdul Rahman, PB Rahim bin Mohamad, PB MD Zuki bin Mohamad Nor, PB Abdul Hazman bin Adam, PB Wan Mohammad Aiman Azrie, PH Mohd Junazwan, PB Muhammad Hanis Manshoor, PB Muhammad Noor Asyraf, PB Mohammat Zarul Azham and PB Mior Muhammad Fahmi.
