New HRPB Complex to Operate Fully on July

The new complex of Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) Ipoh will be fully operational starting July. It is expected to be the state’s medical landmark.

According to HRPB Deputy Director of Medicine, Dr Megat Iskandar Megat Abdul Hamid, the new complex has begun operations since December last year with labour, maternity, cardiology and gynaecology departments.

“If the planning to launch the complex goes well, we’ll be opening more facilities like angiogram, paediatrics and stenting,” he stated.

“The 10-storey complex will house 404 patient wards, six operation theatres and 18 maternity wards. There will be two levels of parking lots up to 300,” Megat Iskandar added. “Hopefully, they’ll relieve visitor’s complaints regarding parking issues around the hospital premises.”

Meanwhile, Megat Iskandar has received contributions from chief executive officer of KPJ Hospital Ipoh, Yusmah Salleh, which consisted of 1,000 personal protective equipment, 1,000 shoe covers and 5,000 face masks.

According to Yusmah, the contribution is part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) from KPJ to appreciate HRPB frontliners in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This was the first ever CSR from KPJ during the ongoing Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO),” she noted. “In the previous Movement Control Order (MCO), we had contributed health screening devices, medical supplies and food boxes during the fasting month. Allocated cost was around RM120,000.”
