16 Drug Dens Busted With RM59,209 Worth of Drugs Seized

The police force of Perak put an end to 16 drug dens around the state in an integrated operation.

According to the state police chief, Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, the operation comprised 272 personnel from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) and Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) force in the state, aided by 59 officers from the Perak National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA).

“The operation took place between April 5 to 6. A total of 364 individuals comprising 352 men and 12 women aged between 14 to 70 were arrested during raids.

“Out of the number, 64 were found guilty of drug trafficking, 106 for drug possession and 159 for drug misuse.

“Also, 114 individuals were investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and 45 more by NADA under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.

“JSJN also identified and captured 24 more individuals under the Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985 and 11 others categorised as wanted persons.

“Some RM59,209 worth of drugs were seized, which consisted of heroin (851.9g), methamphetamine (245g), ganja (cannabis) (37.14g), six Erimin 5 (hypnotic drug) pills and 29.45 litres of air ketum (water infused with kratom leaves).

“RM108,592 worth of vehicles, cash and accessories were confiscated along with 18 shotgun bullets.”

He explained in a media statement dated today (April 7).

Mior added, the special operation was to storm drug dens and to implement further actions against dealers and addicts.

“Hopefully, these integrated drug-busting operations reduce society’s worries of drug addiction threats in local communities.

“It couldn’t have been a success without citizens’ close-knit cooperation with the police,” he expressed.
