The 83 year old Perak Chinese Assembly Hall whose members include over 200 Chinese Associations, held their Chinese New Year Open House at the Impiana Hotel on the second day of the New Year.

Its President, Tan Sri Dato’ Chong Chin Shoong, was on hand to greet his guest of Honour Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Sri Dr. Zambri Abdul Kadir. Other VVIPs included Perak MCA Youth Chairman Dato’ Dr. Mah Hong Soon, Perak Gerakan Chairman Dato’ Chong Ko Youn and Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Heng Seai Kie.

Zambry in his address said that Chinese New year was a time for unity and urged “everyone” to “unite and come together to bring the glory days back to Perak”.

Tan Sri Chong hoped that the Year of the Rabbit would bring harmony and health to the people and requested that the government look into the issues of reducing red tape and price increases.

Other notable guests at the open house included the new CPO of Perak Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan as well as PKR’s YB Chan Ming Kai and YB Tai Sing Ng seen sharing a table with MCA’s Dato’ Lee Kon Yin.

On the fourth day of the New Year it was another boisterous Open House organised by party Pakatan Rakyat at the DAP office at Medan Istana. Organising Chairman Dato’ Ngeh Koo Ham was on hand to greet his guests which included former Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Sri Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin and MP for Ipoh Barat Lim Kit Siang.

Besides the fiery speeches, guests were entertained with cultural performances.
