The first batch of UniKL RCMP’s (Royal College of Medicine, Perak) medical students are about to graduate. To commemorate this auspicious occasion, the undergraduates pooled their resources and, with the help of the college authorities, launched the MBBS 2012 Alumni. The function, held at Heritage Hotel, Ipoh, recently, was dubbed “Malam Himpunan Permata”. The objective of the alumni is to assist past and future students in establishing a base for their activities, in and outside the campus.
The event, wholly organised by the students, was focused on appreciating the efforts of the student council and the educating force of the institution. UniKL RCMP took pride in awarding their students for various achievements. Overall outstanding student award went to Mohd Shafiq Wahab. Community-based programme in support of the Dayak Bidayuh National Association/UNESCO Multilingual Pilot Project in Kuching was honoured with the best programme award.
In conjunction with the event, the medical institution launched a fund-raising project for the destitute in Perak. Three wheelchairs were given to the representative of Rumah Seri Kenangan, Tanjung Rambutan, as part of the institution’s corporate responsibility towards the community. The evening ended on a high note with music and songs performed by students.
