Y’s Men’s Club IpohY’s Men’s Club of Ipoh celeberated Chinese New Year with a sumptuous dinner at a leading Chinese restaurant in Ipoh Garden East recently. The mandatory “yee sang” toss was done with the eager participation of all members present. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of cash awards to two members’ children who scored 6As in their 2011 UPSR examination. The following day members, led by their president, visited the three surviving cerebral palsy afflicted Francis brothers in Lim Gardens, Ipoh. The club has been donating in kind to the Francis siblings since their plight was made known to the public several years ago. A fund-raising programme, an initiative by senior members of the club, is in the pipeline to help the poor and the destitute in the state. It will begin with a jumble sale to be held in conjunction with the Sultan’s birthday in April. Details on the club’s year-round programme and activities can be obtained from K. Letchimanan at 012-530 1939.
